As a boy growing up in the Grange Hill settlement of Westmoreland, Jamaica, Kadeen Mairs never imagined that he would eventually launch a company that would go on to become Jamaica’s largest microfinance firm. He did just that, however, through a combination of discipline, perseverance, and hard work, which resulted in Dolla Financial receiving an $8.8 billion valuation in an oversubscribed IPO that brought in 15,000 shareholders in 2022.
